Kaizer Chiefs have donated R1 million to the Gift of the Givers, as part of the club’s programme to give back to the community.
Gift of the Givers is a South African non-governmental organisation that was started by Dr. Imtiaz Sooliman in 1992.
It is the largest disaster relief organisation that has helped the needy from different countries around the world over the years.
Following their league and cup winning campaign of the 2014/15 season, Chiefs donated some of the club’s earnings to the organisation.
The announcement of the donation was made at the club’s annual end of the season awards ceremony in Midrand on Wednesday night.
“The Amakhosi believe that collaboration can maximise impact in business and in the community. That’s why the Kaizer Chiefs Foundation has embarked on a programme of collaborations to accelerate positive impact. One such initiative involves an inaugural donation in excess of R1m to The Gift of the Givers,” Chiefs confirmed on the club’s official website.
Chiefs won the Absa Premiership (R10m), MTN8 (R8m) as well as the Q1 and Q4 (R3m) of the Q-Innovation, among the achievements by the club this past season.
