Lack of Donor Funding: Do NPOs Implement Projects that Contradict their Mandates for the Sake of Funding?

The NGO Sector in South Africa is realising a crisis of Funding. Organisations find themselves in difficult situations of trying to survive. Some Funding Opportunities and / or Funders contradicts the mandates and objectives of the Organisation. We are therefore asking, do NPO”s implement Projects that contradicts their mandates for the sake of funding.

NGOs will not survive if they dont have money and in most cases we will always do what funders want.

You can always find a compromise and come to a common solution. If you do not like something, try something else

The pursuance of an emerging strategy is also common in business but if not backed by a subsequent strategic re-alignment can create confusion. What we notice is that there are quite a number of NPOs with names that conflict with their current activities. That demonstrates cases where NPOs have pursued emerging strategies and forgot to undertake strategic re-alignment.

NPOs need to understake continous strategic planning sessions, that will assist in realigning their Organisations whenever neccessary.
